Hoy recogemos diferentes aspectos significativos, que Bilbomática, se encuentra analizando en el ámbito de las estrategias web-scale y los sistemas convergentes, tras la jornada de soluciones en hiper-convergencia y web-scale con el equipo de Nutanix.
El concepto de web-scale, esta asociado a los grandes centros de datos de Amazon o Google en el ámbito de los "grandes suministradores de servicios web y cloud" con un enfoque de transformación dinámica para obtener una mayor agilidad frente a las limitaciones impuesta por las arquitecturas de 3 niveles.
Lo que decía Gartner en el 2013 sobre Web-scale :
"...Web-Scale IT Is Closer Than You Might Think: In this note, I took a look at 32 technologies, processes and concepts that help to undergird what I call Web-scale IT. Things like DevOps, Open Compute, Web-Oriented Architecture and others. The verdict? While little of it is “mature” in terms of enterprise adoption, enterprises seeking to become more like the Amazons, Facebooks and Googles of the world have many if not most of the means to do so – today. Of course, Web-scale IT takes more than technology, etc., it also (usually) requires a significant technical skills base although there are vendors in the market today that are trying to address this issue. ..."

No more analyst nuance that says “it depends.” Why? Because I’ve seen the impact of conventional wisdom on IT (and especially on IT operations which is my direct area of coverage) and frankly it isn’t delivering. Maturity levels are “stuck” and costs, even with the advent of cloud, remain too high. If enterprise IT wants to remain relevant to the business, then they’ll have to rethink the entire IT “value chain.” ..."
